Here's the drawings I made on my first trip to the market. I began with scenery styled drawings, showing the size and shape of the building, using vanishing points and perspective to help me. I then began to look in more detail at some of the characters of Castle Market, which I found fascinating. You very rarely step back and look at every day scenes with design in mind, and I suddenly began wondering who these people were and what their stories were. Everyone was there for a similar reason and people seemed to know one another in passing, as if they regularly shop there and get to know one another in the cafe's and stalls.
